A stunning antique two-page chromolithographic print showing the "Illuminations at the International Inventions Exhibition". From the August 8, 1885 issue of the Illustrated London News, the UK publication that has been called the world's first news magazine. The illustration shows a view at night, ith visitors in top hats and ribboned hats enjoying a fireworks display on the south side of the Royal Albert Hall.
Size: approx. 21.5 inches x 15.5 inches (54.61 cm x 39.37 cm). Previously folded.
The International Inventions Exhibition was a world's fair held in the Royal Horticultural Gardens in South Kensington, London. Opening on May 4, 1885, it attracted over 2.5 million visitors during its 6-month run.
In good vintage condition. Minor tears along the fold or borders have been repaired with archival mending tissue.
