This is an authentic original chromolithograph from César Daly’s monumental architectural series, L'Architecture Privée au XIXe Siècle (Third Series, c. 1877). A true artifact of design history, this plate illustrates the ornate Petit Salon ceiling of a historic Café-Restaurant formerly located at No. 24 Passage des Princes, Paris.
This piece is a masterclass in French Victorian design. The print features intricate neoclassical motifs and vibrant colors, further elevated by the gold-heightened details that were a hallmark of Lemercier’s high-end production. The design is attributed to the architects and artists Hallier and Rey, capturing the peak of Haussmann-era elegance.
