A set of seven 11x14 matted prints from a folio of works by Japanese artists, compiled by the U.S. Army, Headquarters I Corps, G2, Official Visitors Liaison Office, and printed by Benrido Printing Co., Ltd. (Note that these are NOT the original paintings, but prints from the portfolio published in 1946.)
The individual prints are as follows:
Kyoto Imperial Palace
Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion Temple)
Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion Temple)
Toji Temple
Saihoji, the "Moss Temple"
Shinyakushiji Temple
Saint Agnes Church in Kyoto
An introduction to to folio states: "This folder of reproductions of artists' painting of many of the historic, cultural, scenic, and military installations in and around Kyoto was prepared especially for the visitor to the city and members of the command stationed here. It is hoped that you will treasure this memento as a reminder of an interesting visit to the only cosmopolitan city in Japan remaining untouched by the devastation of war."
