A rare limited edition print (1200) and complete set of eight lithographs featuring art from "Tacuinum Sanitatis", a medieval reference book on health and hygiene. These prints were printed in the 1939 issue of Verve (Volume 1 No. 4), a famous modernist Parisian art magazine.
Size of each print: approx. 10.25 inches x 14 inches (26.04 cm x 35.56 cm).

The Verve, a deluxe art review that showcased original prints of leading artists at that time as well as fine reproductions of traditional art, had a limited edition run of only 1200.
These high-quality lithographs are from 1939 of eight of the illustrations in the Tacuinum Sanitatis ("Book of Health", or "Compendium of Hygiene"), a treatise on well-being and health widely disseminated in the 14th and 15th centuries. The treatise was a primary reference for health, hygiene, and rational medicine.
The Tacuinum Sanitatis set forth the six elements necessary to maintain daily health and avoid being stressed: food and drink, air and the environment, activity and rest, sleep and wakefulness, secretions and excretions of "humours", and changes or states of mind. The eight prints here specifically show rye, gourds, sage, veal, clothes, millet, dill, and new wine.
In very good condition. These prints are the originals from 1939, not modern reproductions!
