1938 Rare Limited Edition Print / Original Lithograph by Andre Masson. The Sun. Signed on the plate

An original colour lithograph on woven paper by Andre Masson (1896-1988), a leading surrealist painter. The lithograph is signed in the plate on lower left (not by hand).

Size: approx. 14" x 10.25"

'The Sun' was commissioned by Verve, a deluxe art review that showcased original prints of leading artists at that time. Verve had a limited edition run (only 1200 published). This lithograph was published in Volume 1, No. 2 of Revue Verve, 1938. Lithographs in Verve were pulled from the presses of Mourlot Freres, Paris.

Very slight, unobtrusive crease at top right corner; otherwise lithograph is in very good condition. The Bananastrudel watermark does not appear on the print.
